Egyptological Conference in Copenhagen

The University of Copenhagen is hosting its first student organised conference and encourages all current postgraduate students and early career researchers to submit an abstract of maximum 200 words no later than 16 January 2015.

The abstract should give a brief introduction to the 20 minutes presentation held by each presenter at the conference.

To cover the theme "Life and Heritage in Ancient Egypt" we suggest that the presentations include some of the following areas: History, archeology, art history, literature, religion and architecture. Related topics to this theme can be, but are not limited to:

  • Market and trade
  • Local elites and social networks
  • Foreign influence
  • Education and social mobility
  • Economy
  • Sickness and health
  • Demons and gods

Practical information

The conference will take place at the University of Copenhagen. It will be possible to attend the conference as a presenter or as a guest.

Deadline for submission of abstracts: 16 January 2015. Please send your abstract to ecc@hum.ku.dk. Please make sure to include the following information on your abstract page (not included in the 200 words): Your name and title, email address, title of paper and affiliation. The submitted abstracts must be in English and attached as a Word (.doc or .docx) and PDF. You will receive an email by 30 January 2015 regarding the acceptance of your abstract.
