Final Honorary Lecture by Dame Helen Wallace, British Academy.

Europeans face many challenges both at home and abroad as the pressures bear down on the European Union and its member states to respond. There are many dilemmas to be resolved and many choices to be made about the direction of travel.

Bio

Professor Dame Helen Wallace is a leading expert on the politics of European integration, on which she has authored and co-authored numerous publications.

She became a Centennial Professor in the European Institute at the London School of Economics and Political Science in September 2007 and an Emeritus Professor in 2010. She is also Honorary Professor at the University of Sussex.

Previously she held posts at the European University Institute, the University of Sussex, the Royal Institute of International Affairs, the Civil Service College and UMIST.

In 1996, she was appointed a Chevalier de l'Ordre National du Mérite, she was elected a Fellow of the British Academy in June 2000, and served as its Foreign Secretary and International Vice President from 2011 to 2015.

She was awarded Dame Commander of the Order of the British Empire (DBE) in the 2011 New Year Honours for services to social science.
