His, Hers, and Ours: Creativity and Collaboration

Married writers Tom Franklin and Beth Ann Fennelly will read from and discuss their forthcoming books (a novel and micro-memoirs, respectively) as well as The Tilted World (2013), a co-written novel that “immerses its readers in America’s deep south…a thriller to savour” (The Guardian).

Tom Franklin is the author of the story collection Poachers (1999) and the novels Hell at the Breech (2003), Smonk (2006), and Crooked Letter, Crooked Letter (2010), which won the LA Times Book Prize for Best Mystery/Thriller, as well as the British Golden Dagger Award; it was also published in Danish by Klim as Pukkelryg, Pukkelryg. Tom Franklin has also won the Willie Morris Prize for Southern Fiction, and is currently an American Academy fellow in Berlin.

Beth Ann Fennelly is the author of the poetry collections Open House (2002), which won the Kenyon Review Prize; Tender Hooks (2004); and Unmentionables (2008). She is also the author of the non-fiction book Great with Child (2006). Beth Ann Fennely was recently named as the Poet Laureate of Mississippi.

Tom Franklin and Beth Ann Fennely are both professors in the Creative Writing programme at the University of Mississippi, where Beth Ann Fennely was named the Outstanding Teacher of the Year in 2011.
