Edu-business and education policy

The Pearsonisation of Teaching and Learning

Public lecture by Professor Stephen Ball, Institute of Education, University College London.

Pearson is the world’s largest education business, it is a self-styled ‘social purpose’ company – that is it represents what Bill Gates has called ‘social capitalism’ – it aims ‘to do well, by doing good’. Pearson also strives to be a participant in national and global education policy making.

The presentation will explore Pearson’s vision, its business orientation, and its ‘contribution’ to global education policy, and will raise issues for discussion on the role of business in education and education policy.
