Narratives in Motion: Storying Post-Migrant Belonging

Public lecture by Roger Bromley with reference to writings by Nadeem Aslam and Robin Yassin-Kassab, organized by the research group ‘Art, Culture and Politics in the Postmigrant Condition’.

Everyone’s welcome!

Roger Bromley is an Emeritus Professor of Cultural Studies and Honorary Professor of Sociology at the University of Nottingham. He is also a Visiting Professor in the Centre For Transcultural Writing and Research at the University of Lancaster and an Associate Fellow in politics at Rhodes University, South Africa (the 'Thinking Africa' project).

He has written mainly on postcolonial culture and diaspora, refugee and asylum issues, particularly in relation to cinematic representations, and on post-conflict cultures.

Currently, he is working on a book called 'Narratives of Hope? Conflict, Reconciliation and Cultural Forms' (with reference to Bosnia, Rwanda and South Africa) and he is also involved with a project on the representation of migration and displacement, provisionally entitled 'People on the Move: Narratives of Displacement and Belonging', a follow-up to his book, 'Narratives for a New Belonging: Diasporic Cultural Fictions', published by Edinburgh University Press.

We highly recommend reading his column for Ceasefire Magazine.
