Educational Charter for the Faculty of Humanities

  1. The faculty's study programmes are based on a variety of established as well as experimental teaching and learning processes, which extensively involve students and, when relevant, new technologies.

  2. The faculty's teaching and learning processes are, to the widest possible extent, research-based and aim to attain the closest possible integration of education and research.

  3. The faculty's study programmes aim to instil into our students a national and global mindset as well as to provide them with excellent intercultural skills and international contacts.

  4. The faculty's study programmes are evaluated in order to ensure the continuous development and quality of our teaching and learning activities as well as feedback that gives teachers and students the opportunity to reflect on their own learning processes.

  5. The educational efforts and performance of the academic staff are recognized and valued as highly as their research activities.

  6. The academic staff have the opportunity and obligation to continuously innovate, develop, and experiment with their own teaching and learning processes, e.g. by participating in didactics courses offered by the faculty's Centre for University Didactics.

  7. The faculty and its departments offer students an academically, physically, and socially appealing study environment in support of the students' academic immersion and their collaborative  as well as communicative and innovative skills.

  8. Students are continuously offered relevant study and career counselling within their primary programmes, and collaboration with the surrounding world and future job prospects are an integral part of the study progression and organization of the studies.

  9. Students are offered a recommended weekly syllabus, illustrating how a full 37-hour study week may be filled in a meaningful way.
