Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) across Europe are challenged by digital transformation and the need for more digital competencies for teachers (DCT). However, teachers at HEIs are still primarily hired and rewarded for their research. Therefore, the development of digital teaching skills is often a slow process that relies on individual initiatives.

Although COVID has accelerated these processes, there is still a clear need to develop digital teaching competences not only from a technical point of view, but also considering pedagogical aspects and the development of students' competences. DigCompEdu shows a way forward to create change on an institutional level.

Having tools to manage complexity and facilitate these processes is essential to streamline and successfully implement digital transformation.

This Learning Café we will explore the development of DCT from an institutional perspective, presenting the CUTE Canvas, a co-design tool based on the DigCompEdu Framework, that can support teams within organisations (especially in HE) to design actions that foster the DCT. In addition to learning about the tool, during the workshop you will design actions for the development of DCT in your own institution.

Outcomes:
Apply an institutional approach to developing digital competence in HEIs based on the DigCompEdu Framework.
Use the CUTE Canvas design tool.
Create actions for the institutional development of digital competencies for teachers.
