Doctoral degrees
The Doctoral degree (DPhil) is awarded for a thesis that displays outstanding academic insight and maturity and makes a significant contribution to research in the subject area concerned. The thesis is defended orally and the defence is open to the public.
The detailed rules concerning submission and assessment of theses are stipulated in the Ministerial Order on Doctoral Degrees (PDF) as well as the University of Copenhagen's internal rules and guidelines for submitting doctoral theses.
